Carnival Poster- Final image
The carnival freak in my poster features "Dog Face" who is half man and half dog. The text i used for those words is called Rosewood and they are held within yellow banners and bubbles. Gradients were added to those objects as well as a filter called "posterize".
Dog Face was created using an image of myself in a suit and an image of my dog. The dog's head replaces my head and i used the clone stamp tool to create the fur on my hands as well as a tail to my image's back. Dog Face also has a drop shadow in order to create a light source and to have him come forward.
Dog Face is framed within the text and within an oval hole in a red rectangle. I also added a blue floral pattern last minute, since Angela taught me a neat trick using Eduardian text to make such patterns.
The background is originally a gold curtain, but I had to give it a shade of blue in order to give it a cool color that would bring it behind Dog Face. The image is borrowed from freedigitalphotos.net by a photographer who goes by the name of "nuttakit".

Carnival Poster: How it looks so far...
The image still needs a background. I might even add more to decorate the image if I have the time.
So far the frame and the text look alright, and I was able to add dog fur to the hand. I added a filter effect to "Dog Face" as well.
The text on the bottom says: "Not only a well behaved dog, but a gentleman as well!"

Assignment 5: Sideshow Poster- roughs
After observing my references I created these roughs...
I'm planning to use the third image as the the idea for my project. I'll probably add more alluring text such as: "It talks! Like a gentleman!"; "The most civilized talking dog man you'll ever MEET!"
I might take a picture of me in a suit holding a wine glass at a table. I'll probably use my dog again for the head of Dog Face.
I started out drawing this one. This is when I decided to call my character "Dog Face". I gave him a suit in order to make him seem more man-like.
Here is the second rough that I drew. I decided to make a draw a full image of Dog Face. I was even able to show his tail. I also added additional text since I got that idea through my references.
In this third one I decided to make Dog Face interact with an environment. He is having dinner while sitting on a dinner table. Notice that he is drinking through a wine glass. This shows the man-like side of him. His dinner is in a dog bowl which brings out the dog-like side of him.

Assignment 5: Sideshow Poster- references
I've decided to do a sideshow poster with a half-man and half dog in it. I did a google search to look for several references and this is what I found....
The one thing I don't like about this one is that it is OFFENSIVE! Other than that... the use of text in this poster is interesting.
This poster makes the lobsters look like they are human-like.
The layout this poster has might be what I eventually use.

Assignment 4: Photoshop image
This image includes a giant dog and a giant persimmon in the desert. It is based off a memory I had with this dog not too long ago. I chose a desert landscape because the memory happened during a hot summer day. The dog was still a puppy and she stole a persimmon fruit from my grandmother's room. My grandmother caught the dog stealing the fruit and the dog started running around the house knowing she was caught stealing. Now every time I see a persimmon fruit I think of my dog. This short memory was the inspiration for this image.
The dog and persimmon make the image surreal and fantasy-like because of their size. The persimmon sits upon a real-life giant desert rock. The dog sits in front of the giant rock. To the left is a small pickup truck. Originally I was going to cut it out, but it makes the fruit and the dog look much bigger since the viewer can compare the size of the car to the fruit and the dog and recognize that they are much larger. The plants in the front were also originally removed, but I decided to put them back in order to fill some space on an empty corner and to push the dog back a bit to give the image more depth.
I filtered all the objects in this image. The desert rock, dog, and car were given the artistic filter called "cutout" in order to give it a more fantasy-like look. The shapes were simplified through this filter, but not to the the point where the images lose their detail. The detail had to be kept in order show that the photo was something that came out of reality. The persimmon was given the brush stroke filter "angled strokes" in order to give it a fantasy look and to add detail to the leafy top since the original image was actually less detailed on that part. The only image not affected by a filter was the clouds in the back in order to mix fantasy and reality. The image of the clouds was found on freedigitalphotos.net and the photographer was Suat Eman.

Draft for 1st Photoshop Assignment
A Giant Dog and a Persimmon in the Desert
The image of my draft includes a giant dog and a giant persimmon fruit sitting in the middle of a desert. I know it seems kind of random, but this image was inspired by a real life moment. My dog stole a persimmon fruit from my grandmother's room and she was caught by my grandmother. After being caught, my dog ran around the house as if she were running away from the scene of a crime. I chose the persimmon as my object since it reminds me of my dog and this real life moment. I have also chosen a desert for my background since this moment occurred during a hot summer day.

Assignment 1: Collage
Original:Adobe Illustrator:
About this collage and the elements of 2-D Design:
1. The color black was used to create negative space.
2. The only kind of shapes used for this collage are four-sided shapes and triangles.
3. The shapes used are put together to form several triangles.
4. The colors blue, red, and yellow are used to create positive space, and the center black triangle is used to create an illusion that it is part of the negative space in the back.
5. This center black triangle creates a flaw, however, since it becomes an arrow, and the viewer is drawn to the arrow, which points towards the outside of the image. This arrow leads towards the outer part of the image, which does not lead back into the image.
