This image includes a giant dog and a giant persimmon in the desert. It is based off a memory I had with this dog not too long ago. I chose a desert landscape because the memory happened during a hot summer day. The dog was still a puppy and she stole a persimmon fruit from my grandmother's room. My grandmother caught the dog stealing the fruit and the dog started running around the house knowing she was caught stealing. Now every time I see a persimmon fruit I think of my dog. This short memory was the inspiration for this image.
The dog and persimmon make the image surreal and fantasy-like because of their size. The persimmon sits upon a real-life giant desert rock. The dog sits in front of the giant rock. To the left is a small pickup truck. Originally I was going to cut it out, but it makes the fruit and the dog look much bigger since the viewer can compare the size of the car to the fruit and the dog and recognize that they are much larger. The plants in the front were also originally removed, but I decided to put them back in order to fill some space on an empty corner and to push the dog back a bit to give the image more depth.
I filtered all the objects in this image.The desert rock, dog, and car were given the artistic filter called "cutout" in order to give it a more fantasy-like look. The shapes were simplified through this filter, but not to the the point where the images lose their detail. The detail had to be kept in order show that the photo was something that came out of reality. The persimmon was given the brush stroke filter "angled strokes" in order to give it a fantasy look and to add detail to the leafy top since the original image was actually less detailed on that part. The only image not affected by a filter was the clouds in the back in order to mix fantasy and reality. The image of the clouds was found on freedigitalphotos.net and the photographer was Suat Eman.
